Joe Pryce saw his side came from behind twice to win a nine-goal thriller with Petershill

Joe Pryce praised his Rutherglen Glencairn side after they twice fought back from behind to beat Petershill 6-3 to stay top of the West of Scotland First Division.

Glencairn stepped up a gear, and Matty Meechan equalised in 70 minutes. Jack McIlveen headed them in front four minutes later, then crossed for Roan Fitzpatrick to nod them further ahead, with Meechan bagging his second and Glencairn’s sixth of the game in 90 minutes. “We were 2-1 down at half-time, but managed to get them in and settle everything down, regain our composure, and I thought in the second half we were excellent. Scoring five goals against a really good Petershill team is good going, so I’m delighted with the three points.

“Dom McLaughlin got injured, he got a stud just under his chin and had to come off, and that knocked us off course for a wee bit. We lost our focus, as soon as you do that any good side is going to take advantage, and Petershill certainly did.
