Ryanair is warning that popular Christmas flights to Lapland may be at risk this year due to a passenger cap that will limit flights in and out of Dublin Airport. The airline's CEO has criticized Transport Minister Eamon Ryan for not using his authority to allow extra flights, potentially impacting families traveling to see Santa Claus, those returning home for Christmas, and even the Leinster Rugby team.

Ryanair has said that Eamon Ryan has legal power under the Aviation Act 2001 to direct the IAA to allow these extra slots, but he has not acted. The move means the Leinster Rugby Team will now be forced to divert to Belfast to catch flights for their away matches in Bristol, Cardiff and La Rochelle. "It is unacceptable that Ireland's Transport Minister won't exercise his legal power to approve these extra flights. If he won't act , we then call on Green Tourism Minister Catherine Martin to take action.
