The government department has advised holidaymakers travelling to the Middle East country to be cautious due to 'very poor' road discipline
The Foreign Office has issued a fresh warning for holidaymakers travelling to Qatar, cautioning them about the "very poor" road discipline in the country. The government department has advised visitors to the country which boasts the popular resort of Doha that high-speed driving is common and accidents are frequent.
In its most recent travel advice for Qatar, the Foreign Office stated: "Road discipline is very poor; speeds are high and accidents are common. If you have an accident, stay with your vehicle until the police arrive and tell you that you can leave." Standard motoring laws in Qatar also require motorists and passengers to wear a seat belt at all times and to avoid using a mobile phone while driving. Non-compliance with these laws can result in fines of 500 riyals .
