The supermarket has assured customers their personal data 'will be safe and secure' despite the issues, which were caused by problems with contactless payments.
Sainsbury's has said it will be unable to fulfil the 'vast majority' of online deliveries today after suffering 'technical issues' at some stores. The supermarket chain said the issues were due to 'an error with an overnight software update' and had affected contactless payments.
' Sainsbury's said it was 'working hard to fix the issue' and apologised to customers affected. It said all stores remained open, adding that chip and pin and cash transactions were working as usual. The supermarket also assured customers on X that their personal data 'will still be safe and secure even with the issues going on'. It advised one affected customer to rebook their delivery from Monday onwards.
