🔴 Sajid Javid to stand down as MP at next election as Tory exodus continues
Describing the Prime Minister as “my friend”, he pledged to support Mr Sunak “in any way I can” in his remaining months as an MP.
He added: “It has been a decision I have wrestled with for some time, but I have ultimately concluded not to stand again for what would be my fifth election.” Under Mrs May Mr Javid served as Housing and Communities Secretary and Home Secretary, making him the first British Asian to hold one of the great offices of state, before appointed as Chancellor when Mr Johnson entered Downing Street.
