Throughout its May restaurant inspections, the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District dished out plenty of grades of 100-out-of-100, but other establishments didn't fare so well. Inspectors found sanitation problems — like no soap for employees preparing food bare-handed to wash their hands — and more. The Express-News looked at establishments that fell short of an 'A' grade, which is 90 points or more. Here are the ones that received a score of 79 or below.
W scored a 75, the second-lowest score in May. The restaurant received multiple violations for cross-contamination risks during its May 24 inspection, including an employee preparing raw chicken and raw beef without washing their hands in between. The inspector did not observe any employees washing their hands during the inspection, which lasted just over an hour.
