Midfielder becomes the face of San Diego's expansion soccer franchise as it builds toward 2025 debut

Hirving “Chucky” Lozano made his professional soccer debut with Mexican club Pachuca in 2014 at age 18. Two years later, Pachuca won the Liga MX championship. Lozano left in 2017 for Europe and Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, which promptly won the league title. The next stop was Italy and Napoli, which last spring won its first Serie A title in 33 years, since it had an Argentine midfielder named Diego Maradona.
