Midlothian Snowsports Centre has announced that its long-anticipated Alpine Coaster attraction will open to the public this Saturday, with the scenic ride reaching speeds of up to 28mph.

Midlothian Snowsports Centre, near Hillend, has revealed that its highly anticipated Alpine Coaster attraction will open this Saturday. Starting September 14 at 9am, visitors to the centre can book tickets and take a ride on the coaster.

The Alpine Coaster reaches speeds of up to 28 miles per hour, though visitors can control how fast their cart moves. It includes a vertical drop of around 170 metres, as well as a 360-degree helix. "I’m here today, not just to mark the opening and enjoy the ride, but also with many of the project team who helped make the Alpine Coaster possible. It’s a thank you to everyone’s hard work but also the chance for us to be willing ‘guinea pigs’ so staff can test out procedures around aspects such as getting people onboard safely in a set time frame."
