The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind impacting parts of Scotland during Wednesday.
Spells of the strong winds are expected to develop across west and northwest Scotland on Wednesday afternoon. Gusts of up to 70-75mph are expected in some areas, particularly across Mull and Tiree, with high winds up to 60mph expected fairly widely.The Met Office recommends securing any loose items surrounding your property to prevent damage due to high winds. Items such as bins, plant pots and garden furniture should be stored away safely.
The windy weather warning comes as the Met Office is forecasting that parts of the UK could see a deluge of rain. The tail end of Hurricane Lee resulted in hugely unsettled weather during Tuesday, with remnants of Hurricane Nigel set to sweep across the country from the Atlantic later this week, bringing more heavy downpours and flooding risks.
"Although we've indicated that there could be flooding associated with the reasonably high levels of rainfall, that's not something anticipated to be widespread. It's something that may be a consequence of a catchment that suddenly gets more inundated or there are blockages in drainage."
