Scots flocked to shops across the country to queue in the dark before Aldi opened on Thursday so they did not miss out.
Hundreds of shoppers queued outside Scots Aldi stores to get their hands on the viral £1.99 Prime Energy drink. The sports drink, created by YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul, has seen huge demand across the UK since its launch earlier this year.
Photographs shared on social media show Scots shoppers queueing in the dark outside Aldi stores in Govan and Airdrie before doors opened on Thursday morning. Stock of the drink sold out at other branches in Paisley, Govan Bellshill and Aberdeen. Prime Energy is marketed as a low calorie hydration drink that contains no added sugar. It is mostly made up of water, coconut water, vitamins and minerals. It comes in a wide variety of flavours but is not an energy drink as it does not contain caffeine.
While Prime is seen as a better alternative to other hydration drinks as it has no added sugar, it does contain artificial sweeteners and preservatives.
