Richmond’s Hope has helped over 5,000 children since opening its doors 2003.

A Scottish children's bereavement charity is marking a special 20th anniversary milestone after helping thousands of youths to work through their grief over the years.

The churchwoman recognised a need among youths in her community who were struggling to work through the motions of their grief and so co-founded the charity with a bereaved parent named Jessie Douglas. With one in 29 children affected by the death of a parent or sibling by the age of 16, the charity support workers use therapeutic play and specialised grief activities to empower children to tell the story of their grief and changes to their lives.

Marking 20 years since it's launch, Reverend Liz Henderson OBE, chair and co-founder of Richmond's Hope, said: “Richmond’s Hope’s 20th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the impact of the work with the families who’ve come to Richmond’s Hope, thank those who have been instrumental in its success and to raise the profile of the organisation moving forward.
