Nancy Martin was stranded in the European country after she took unwell three days into her holiday with her husband, James, in July.
A grandmother who had been left stranded abroad after being placed in a coma while on holiday will be returning home to Scotland. Nancy Martin, 69, from Dunbar in East Lothian, was stuck in Cyprus after she was struck down with Covid during her trip with her husband James.
We previously reported how the couple's insurance claim with Saga was denied due to a pre-existing lung condition. The family were left in a panic to secure around £50,000 to fly Nancy back home. The company have said they will "contribute the difference" between the GoFundMe value, which was set up by the family and currently sits above £8000. James revealed that he was "shocked" to get the good news and said that "all he wanted was to get his wife home".
"My wife is coming home, and that's all I wanted. They have an air ambulance ready at short notice and are just waiting until a bed comes up for her at the ICU in the Western General."
