Dode Millar, 33, was forced to run into his burning shed and remove two gas cannisters after a fire quickly spread to his garden in Gorebridge on Thursday afternoon
A Midlothian man had to dash into a blaze in his garden after noticing smoke and realising the fire was swiftly moving onto his shed, where two gas canisters were stored.
Heroically, Dode, assisted by a neighbour, braved the inferno, pictured retrieving the canisters as the wooden structure was consumed by fire and destroyed shortly thereafter. Top news stories today Edinburgh Live received a first-hand account from Dode post-ordeal, with him detailing not just the extensive damage to his belongings but also the lasting reminder of the incident the pervasive smell of smoke that now filled his home.
"The fire brigade came but me and my neighbour had to run inside to get the Jerry cans and gas cannisters. We think the fire started at the bottom of a BT telegraph pole and spread to the hedge and caught the hut."Images taken after the blaze was extinguished show what little remains of the shed with charred bits of wood lying in a pile of rubble in Dode's garden.
