Monice McGhee, a Scottish opera star and thyroid cancer survivor, has composed a new operatic score titled 'About Time' with tenor Toby Spence and pianist Lee Michael Walton to highlight NHS wait times and their personal experiences with the disease.
A Scottish opera star and thyroid cancer surviver has teamed up with two other survivors to compose a song highlighting NHS wait times.
She underwent surgery on her neck, facing a long recovery and permanent loss of some of her vocal range. “I had lots of auditions coming up and I was in the finals for young artists at European opera houses.” Ms McGhee, who is now cancer-free and is preparing to make her English National Opera principal debut early next year, says she hopes their song gives hope to people undergoing cancer treatment.
