EXCLUSIVE: Performance-related pay has gone up even though punters are paying 8.8pc more.
Scottish Water fat cats have been awarded £227,000 in bonuses as customers are forced to pay huge rises in water bills.
“The Scottish Government cannot stand idle while Scots pick up the tab for Scottish Water. It’s time the government acted to protect Scottish consumers.” As well as Plant’s £87,000 top up, ex CEO Douglas Millican landed a £13,000 bonus, Chief Operating Officer Peter Farrer received £73,000 and now-retired Strategy Director Alan Scott benefited from £54,000.Plant’s bonus, worth around one third of his £246,000 salary, was part of an overall remuneration package totalling £483,000
Scottish Water has also faced criticism recently over a “disgusting” 10% rise in the number of sewage dumps in 2023.Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton said: "They should also start listening to my party's call for a Clean Water Act which would update our Victorian sewage network and clamp down on discharges."
