Are we being fair to the Seahawks’ newest quarterback?
Yes, it’s time to talk about Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Sam Howell. We’ll see a lot of him on Saturday as the Seahawks take on the Los Angeles Chargers for week one of the 2024 NFL preseason. It’s no secret that he hasn’t had the warmest of welcomes from journalists, pundits, and bloggers who don’t think he’s had a very good training camp. But is it fair? After all, it’s training camp. And we only see the portion of it that’s outside and allowed to be viewed by the media.
Later in the season, he was benched twice for Brissett and finished with 3,946 passing yards and 21 touchdowns. He also had 21 interceptions and 65 sacks, both the most in the NFL. Why in the world would the Seahawks trade for such a guy? For starters, he had a pretty good game against us last year. Howell threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns against the Seahawks in week 10 of the regular season – statistically besting Geno Smith.
