But around 40 impatient drivers were seen ignoring the matric signs and driving through the scene of collisions around Junction 31 at the Tickled Trout/Brockholes section of the motorway.A number of drivers were also seen using mobile phone while driving through the collision scene.A second collision took place on the northbound side at 12.25pm and involved a motorbike.
Police say the motorcyclist has a fractured knee and no other serious injuries have been sustained in either crash. The M6 was shut in both directions with long delays and matrix signs with a red X were displayed for lane closures.and three points on their licence, and there can be more severe penalties given or a court appearance.Supintendent Melita Worswick, of Lancashire Police, said: “First and foremost we must say a huge thankyou to all those people who waited patiently for the motorway to re-open.
“These two collisions occurred in a short space of time on both sides of the M6, and the matrix signs were very clear that the motorway lanes were closed. However, over 40 people still felt their convenience was more important and ignored the signs, while six people did this while also using their phones.
