Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie has called on Labor to guarantee Australians living the regions won’t be “cut off” from the rest of the country should Rex Airlines collapse after the company announced a trading halt on Tuesday.
Ms McKenzie discussed the issues with Sky News Australia on Tuesday. Picture: Dan Peled / NCA NewsWire “We’ve been calling all day since this news became apparent that the government needs to guarantee to regional Australians that they won’t be worse off, that they won’t be cut off from the rest of Australia,” she said.
"The government needs to guarantee, no matter what decision the board of Rex makes over the coming period, that these services won't disappear out of our community." “And now we look like we are having a second airline in trouble in the two years that Anthony Albanese’s government has been in charge of the aviation regulation space.
