The Lions of Teranga can be proud of their efforts and if they had star man Sadio Mane, who is ruled out the competition with injury, the outcome may have been very different
REIGNING AFCON champions Senegal kicked off their World Cup campaign with a 2-0 defeat against the Netherlands,Many people had tipped this to be the mouth-watering game of Group A, unfortunately it fell flat and was only rescued by two late goals from the men in orange. The Senegal defence was tested at times, none more so than when the ball was squared to Frenkie de Jong who had the ball at his feet inside the penalty area before deciding to cut into his right foot, taking too many touches before being cleared away.
The Lions of Teranga took control of the second half with Idrissa Gueye rattling the Dutch midfield with his constant pressing and tackling.minute when good work on the left-hand side saw de Jong whip a ball into the box for Cody Gakpo who beat an onrushing Edouard Mendy to head in.
