Now we're into the September and the season finally feels like it's starting to change, Lancs Live has delved into the archives for photos of Lancashire in years past. Thanks to the Mirrorpix and Getty photo archives, we've managed to put together a gallery of snaps from the 1930s through to the early 2000s - many of which readers will not have seen before.The photos show not only how the streets and places used to look, but who was in the news at the time and some fantastic moments in Lancashire's history - from its traditional industries to how we entertained ourselves.
Mahatma Gandhi during his visit to Britain, September 1931. Gandhi took this opportunity to visit Lancashire cottons mills to see what conditions were like for the workers. At this point the All India Congress Party had boycotted British Goods including cotton because mass production in Lancashire had ruined the handloom industry in India.Day trippers enjoying the sea air with a walk along Blackpool's promenade whilst the more adventurous take in the view from the top of the Blackpool Tower.
