This second beerhouse, following the original Ancoats site, opened in December 2019 and hosted a variety of live events alongside a full selection of their beers. The bar and kitchen also featured a menu of burgers, kebab wraps, and a range of gin and spirits from their award-winning offshoot, Sis4ers Distillery. A statement on the Seven Bro7hers website, signed by the brothers Guy, Keith, Luke, Dan, Nathan, Kit, and Greg McAvoy, reads, “It is with a heavy heart that we have had to take the decision to close our Middlewood Locks beerhouse. Apologies for any inconvenience.” The news of the closure has already circulated on social media, with patrons expressing disappointment over its sudden end. One individual commenting on the bar’s Instagram page noted their surprise at the closure, while another lamented the loss of the venue’s pleasant staff, food, and atmosphere. This closure follows a similar decision made last year by the brewery to close its Liverpool Beerhouse, citing unsustainable operating conditions due to rising costs, inflation, and insufficient government support for the hospitality sector. While the Middlewood Locks beerhouse is closed, Seven Bro7hers continues to operate its Salford brewery and taproom, which remains open to visitors. The company also retains its original Ancoats beerhouse, on Blossom Street, as well as a newly opened location in MediaCity in 2023. This MediaCity venue offers a diverse experience with drinks, food, live music, bar games, and gin making classes, complemented by a 2,000-square-foot terrace boasting picturesque waterside views. Beyond these permanent locations, Seven Bro7hers operates an Amber Alehouse within Manchester Airport's Terminal 2 in collaboration with HMS Host International and has a partnership with Square Chapel, in Halifax, featuring a dedicated Seven Bro7hers bar. Recently, the brewery launched a limited edition SLC IPA to support Salford Lads Club, showcasing a unique blend of candied orange and sweet caramel flavors. Speaking at the opening of the Middlewood Locks venue in 2019, brother Keith McAvoy emphasized that their beerhouses were integral to their community. McAvoy stated, “Without the community, we’re nothing. We all grew up together in a big loving family, and that’s the vibe we aim for in our beerhouses – somewhere people really like to be, somewhere they feel at home.”
