No-one was hurt and no arrests have yet been made
Shoppers have spoken of their shock after a masked robber 'armed with a gun' burst into a bank in Middleton town centre.
Other witnesses told the M.E.N. that the weapon used in the attempted robbery had been a shotgun. This has not yet been confirmed by police. A woman working at Jeffries Casino two doors away from the bank said the square had been full of armed police following the incident.
Passersby in the town centre also expressed their concern with the rise of knife crime in the area. Wednesday's incident comes less than 48 hours after a man robbed a Spar on Hollins Lane, Middleton, at knifepoint. The robber came away with around £200 in cash, although no-one was hurt in the incident.
