Victoria Floyd’s life changed in December of 2020.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A Montgomery shooting survivor is joining calls to stop the violence. Victoria Floyd hopes her story brings awareness to how gun violence impacts innocent people in the city.
Floyd’s life changed in December of 2020. While out celebrating Christmas, she was shot. She says she was an innocent bystander. “The next thing I remember is I was on the floor and I couldn’t breathe. I wasn’t feeling any pain. There was someone holding my hand, telling me everything was gonna be okay,” said Floyd.“I am paralyzed from the chest all the way down. No movement. I do have muscle spasms. I have nerve pain. I also have a colostomy bag, and a suprapubic catheter, she said. “The hardest part is not being able to be the mom that I was before.
Floyd says something has to be done to stop the violence and keep this from happening to another innocent person.The man accused of shooting Floyd and two others bonded out in 2020. One of the victims died. The case has not gone to a grand jury.
