Lincolnshire Police are investigating the shooting of a great black-backed gull found injured at Metheringham Quarry. The bird, with a broken wing and multiple pellets in its body, is receiving care at a wildlife rescue center. Police urge anyone with information to come forward.
Police are appealing for information about a wild bird which has been taken to an animal rescue centre after being shot. The great black-backed gull was found in the area of Metheringham Quarry near Blankney on Friday, December 6.
The care of the bird and X-ray costs are being covered by the charity Wild Things Rescue. An update was shared by Lincolnshire Police on its Facebook page shortly before 8pm on Monday, December 23. "An X-ray confirmed that it had been shot and its body contained multiple pellets. The bird has suffered a broken wing and is struggling to stand; it is still alive but sadly it's not doing so well."
