People travelling to the area have been issued with a warning
A warning has been issued for a popular holiday hotspot after over 130 people fell ill with severe stomach conditions. In a recent update, it was revealed that 66 new cases of viral gastroenteritis were reported in Chania, Crete, within just 24 hours, according to news site Kathimerini.
A significant proportion of those affected are students from Crete's Polytechnic University, which has temporarily shut its dining hall. Teams from the National Public Health Organization are currently testing the city's water system to eliminate any other potential causes.
