The popular BBC drama Silent Witness is returning on Monday night, with a new series featuring the Lyell squad, led by Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) as they tackle a range of new and intriguing crimes. This season will see the introduction of fresh faces, including esteemed actresses Maggie Steed and Francesca Mills, who will be playing the roles of Harriet Maven and Kit Brooks. In an interview, Maggie expressed her enthusiasm for being part of the show, stating: 'I was terribly flattered.
I've always really enjoyed Silent Witness. I like the way that it's actually very serious, it doesn't mess about.' She believes the show's sincerity is a key factor in its enduring popularity, adding: 'Audiences respond to that, just look at how popular it is! And so, when I was offered it, I thought, 'Well, I can't say no to this! ' So I jumped at the chance!' Maggie characterises her role as a smart, no-nonsense woman who doesn't tolerate fools gladly. Her character will be introduced in the first episode, airing on January 6. Recalling the moment, Maggie stated: 'She said to me, 'Darling, you're going to have to have your eyes done.'' Maggie revealed her shock, saying: 'I was so shocked that I nearly fell off my chair. I realised that they were right. My eyes had fallen so much that the cameramen were struggling to find them to put some light into them, so I had them done
