Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson enjoyed a Scottish special at a new fine dining restaurant in Cheshire, celebrating Burn's Night with a traditional haggis dish.

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson dined at a new fine dining restaurant in Cheshire, celebrating Burn's Night with a Scottish special. The former Reds manager enjoyed a meal at Li-Ly Restaurant in Knutsford, the latest venture from award-winning chef Aiden Byrne .

As his visit coincided with Burn's Night, the celebration of Scotland's national poet Robert Burns, Sir Alex and his party, including long-time friend Ged Mason, boss of Manchester's Morson Group, requested a special haggis dish. Chef Aiden, known for his innovative seasonal taster menus, happily prepared the Scottish delicacy for the group. Aiden shared a picture on Instagram of a delighted Sir Alex showcasing his haggis, served with Aiden's version of neeps and tatties (mashed turnips and mashed potatoes). Li-Ly Restaurant, housed in an 18th-century timber-clad building, opened at the end of last year and has already gained recognition for its culinary excellence. This isn't Aiden's first foray into the world of fine dining; he was the youngest person to ever win a Michelin Star at the age of 22. He has overseen numerous award-winning restaurants across the north west of England, including Manchester House and 20 Stories. Prior to Li-Ly, Aiden and his wife Sarah ran the popular gastropub The Church Green in Lymm for 16 years before announcing their departure in 2022
