Following Storm Bert, the UK is bracing for more snow, with Lancashire set for a snowfall of almost one centimeter on December 12. The Met Office predicts unsettled weather with possible snow, especially for northern areas, persisting through late December.
We've just come out the tail end of Storm Bert , but in true UK style, this isn't the end of the cold, disruptive weather on our shores. Snow is expected to fall on Saturday, December 7 in Scotland and it's looking as though Lancashire will be hit with almost one centimetre of snow on Thursday, December 12.
However, the scene of widespread snow on the ground at Christmas is getting rarer, with these weather conditions more likely to happen in January and February. The meteorological service explains: "The last widespread white Christmas in the UK was in 2010. It was extremely unusual, as not only was there snow on the ground at 83% of stations but snow or sleet also fell at 19% of stations.
