The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in Northern Ireland. The warning is in effect from Monday afternoon to Tuesday morning, with the potential for travel disruption.

The Met Office has issued another weather warning for snow in Northern Ireland . A yellow warning for snow and ice will be in effect across the country from 3pm on Monday, January 6 to 11am on Tuesday, January 7. The forecaster said: 'Snow and icy patches may lead to some disruption to travel.' A previous yellow weather warning issued for ice ended at 11am on Monday morning.

A Met Office spokesperson said: 'Rain, sleet and snow showers will continue during Monday evening and night leading to a risk of icy stretches. A slight covering of snow is possible in places, and perhaps up to 5 cm on hills in the north and west, especially the Sperrins. Snow showers are expected to become more frequent across the north and west for a time this afternoon and evening.' The Met Office outlook Monday night into Tuesday reads: 'Clear intervals and wintry showers, most frequent in the north but mostly of rain along the North Coast. A cold night with risk of icy stretches. Minimum temperature -1 °C. 'Sunny spells and scattered wintry showers , snow mostly over high ground. Feeling bitterly cold in the fresh or strong northwesterly wind. Maximum temperature 4 °C.' As for what to expect during the yellow weather warning, the Met Office has issued some details.
