The Wolverines punctuated their undefeated season on Saturday at Wasilla High School with a 2-0 victory over the Knights. South triumphed in the championship game despite playing shorthanded. The Alaska School Activities Association suspended South coach Brian Lux and several players due to behavior exhibited by Wolverine players in its previous match.
Friday’s incident remains under investigation by ASAA, said the organization’s executive director, Billy Strickland.“I want today to be about the team and the result that they put in,” Lux said. “ We said early on in the season that the only team that would be able to stop us is us and that every player on this team mattered from Michael Wagner who’s the leading scorer — one of the leading scorers in the country — to the last player on the bench.
