Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo's Reds beat Saints in Premier League clash
A Morgan Gibbs-White goal secured Nottingham Forest’s first win of the Premier League season as they beat Southampton 1-0. Looking to make a positive start to their away campaign, the Reds were bright from the off on the south coast. They saw plenty of the ball in the first half and created some really promising moments but just fell short in the final third.
At the other end of the pitch, Matz Sels didn’t have too much to do in the first half. He was equal to an effort from Kyle Walker-Peters shortly before the whistle to leave it goalless at the interval. Southampton grasped the initiative after the restart and put Forest under a bit of pressure. But just when it looked as though the visitors might be made to pay for not making the most of their dominance, Gibbs-White found the back of the net at the second attempt with 20 minutes to go.
