Here is an example of a Vanguard build you can run if you need defensiveness and loss of control prevention. Image via VideoGamer.There’s some flexibility within Vanguard’s class perks build, depending on preferences. Though some come with strengths, others come with weaknesses. Some of it depends on your weapon set too, which we’ll go into later. But, as a safe starting point, this is the type of build you’ll be running.
All melee defence bonuses you get are exceptionally strong for the class. Melee damage is anything melee range, which means swarms do drastically less, Majoris and Extremis enemies like Liktors Ravaners and Occultist melee terminators are not scary. Even the melee attacks on Terminus enemies like the Hive Tyrant are not so scary. All in all, you get a lot of breathing room to play your core melee and close-range identity.
