The Eighties star has undergone surgery and has had to cancel planned appearances including one at a UK festival
Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley has been forced to pull out of a rock festival after a “serious fall”. The singer, 63, was due to headline Let’s Rock Norwich - which began yesterday.
But after sustaining a knee injury on Wednesday and having surgery, he was left unable to perform. In a statement posted to Instagram yesterday, Tony said he was “disappointed” he couldn’t perform - and it’s “not a decision I’ve made lightly”. He said he underwent “major knee surgery” after a “serious fall” while on holiday in Italy. And the singer has been told to “minimise all travel for the next few days to avoid the risk of complications”.
Instagram He thanked his fans for the “kind messages of support”. The festival went on to feature acts like The Happy Mondays and Bananarama. It is thought the star broke a kneecap and damaged a ligament following a fall in his dressing room before a concert in Italy earlier this month.
