Thousands of spiders are set to invade homes as spider mating season begins in September - with the eight-legged creatures hanging around until October.
As spider mating season begins this month, thousands of the creepy crawlies are set to be invading homes across the UK - the worst nightmare for arachnophobes.
Although they are mostly harmless, we don’t want spiders contaminating our food or creeping up on us in the bathroom - but getting rid of them can be expensive. The expert said: "The best way of getting rid of spiders is by keeping them out in the first place. Start by sealing any cracks or openings around your windows and doors with caulk, weather stripping or sealant to reduce the chance of an initial invasion.
"Decluttering your home and keeping it organised will reduce the chance of a spider putting up a web. Cleaning away dust is also really important as it is small insects and food particles that attract spiders inside."
