Rishi Sunak paid tribute to the pilot on X, formerly Twitter, saying: “Awful news to see the life of a serving RAF pilot cut short in this tragic event. “My thoughts are with their family and loved ones.”The force has put road closures are in place in the areas of Dogdyke Road and Sandy Bank and it is asking motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
It said it sent a number of resources to the scene, including a paramedic, an ambulance car and a air ambulance. Last August, a pilot of a replica Spitfire was killed when the aircraft crashed near the Oxfordshire village of Enstone.
