St. Ignatius boys volleyball advanced to Sunday's Division I OHSAA state final.
Published: May. 25, 2024, 8:46 p.m.The Wildcats have only lost three matches this season. They avenged the first one - against Brecksville-Broadview Heights - in last week’s regional final. On Saturday, they took care of the second, topping Hilliard Darby in the Division I state semifinal —25-14, 25-14, 25-21 — at Wittenberg University.
The Wildcats’ only other loss this season came against Cincinnati St. Xavier, which is their opponent in Sunday’s Division I state final . They drew withing 22-20 before a kill by Chris Slater created the first match point for the Wildcats. A kill by Luke Bender finally ended it.
