A bus that got stuck under a bridge in Merseyside has created large amounts of traffic as chaos ensued
A Stagecoach bus caused traffic chaos this morning after ploughing into a low bridge. The double-decker was trapped beneath the crossing at Green Lane in Tranmere, Merseyside, shortly after 6am today.
The road was closed by officers, leading to rush hour madness in the area, with large queues on the surrounding streets. New Chester Road was shut in both directions as emergency services dealt with the incident, according to traffic management system Inrix. A spokesperson for the fire service said a multi-agency meeting took place between Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, Merseyside Police, and Stagecoach to put together a plan to remove the bus. Pictures taken at the scene show a cordon in place as well as a fire engine.
