GSC Game World has released a massive 110GB update for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, finally addressing the broken A-Life system and fixing over 1,000 bugs. The update improves NPC behavior, re-encounters, and diversity.
GSC Game World has admitted that Stalker 2 : Heart of Chornobyl launched in an unsatisfying form as the studio needed to launch. However, the studio has not stopped releasing patches for the survival game, and this massive new update is one of the most exciting. After breaking A-Life on launch due to aggressive optimization, GSC Game World has released its first major fix to the AI simulation. In the 110GB Patch 1.1 update, the “first iteration of A-Life fixes” have finally launched.
Stalker 2 patch fixes A-Life As detailed in the game’s patch notes, a horde of AI simulation fixes have been released. NPCs will no longer annoyingly spawn behind players’ backs and roam the world more often, at further distances and have more motivation to “expand territory and actively attack enemies and mutants”. Furthermore, the A-Life system now works properly meaning that NPCs can be re-encountered over time and are more diverse in their goals. Furthermore, there’s more diversity in the types of NPCs that will be encountered over time. GSC Game World explains that they are far from done with patches and will “continue working on the game, listening to your comments and reviews to investigate all possible issues and solve them as soon as possible.” Loads more fixes Alongside the long-awaited A-Life fix, GSC Game World has released over 1,000 additional fixes for the game. Collision issues, broken foliage, texture issues, physics problems with corpses, broken achievements and even HDR issues have all been fixed. Additionally, Stalker 2 now features an improved tutorial that aims to “improve the first-time user experience”. After all, many newbie stalkers have been taken out by that initial anomaly introduction, and the random bloodsuckers that were introduced right at the start for some reason.
