British Gas, EDF, Ovo and E.On will issue £150 payments to pensioners this winter
State pensioners are set to receive a free payout of £150 this November to help them stay warm during the winter months. The Department for Work and Pensions has extended its Warm Home Discount scheme for 2024/25 to aid households that are in, or at risk of, fuel poverty.
In England and Wales, you'll be eligible to receive it if you get either the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit, or you're on a low income and have high energy costs.
Prepayment customers are also eligible for the discount and your electricity supplier can inform you how the discount will be applied if you qualify. This usually involves receiving a voucher to top-up your meter.
