A stepfather accused of murdering a toddler was allegedly caught on camera by his partner, who suspected him of smothering the boy to stop him from crying. Paula Roberts, 41, installed a hidden camera in her son Charlie's bedroom after concerns about his safety. During the trial at Teesside Crown Court , Christopher Stockton, 38, denied harming Charlie and expressed his hurt and upset at his partner's accusations.
Stockton described Charlie as crying as he put him to bed and claims he made a 'shushing noise' to soothe him. The toddler died after being allegedly violently shaken or thrown when left alone with Stockton
