The normally solid Paisley outfit leaked three soft goals as they left Pittodrie empty handed

Unhappy Stephen Robinson insisted St Mirren only had themselves to blame for an awful day at Aberdeen.

"We lose a corner from a throw-in for the first one. Then we didn't defend the corner as we intended, two of our players ran into each other and then Ellery falls over a bit because of that. That's disappointing and preventable. The second one is the same again. We make the wrong decision and we get punished for a miskick. The third is just poor defending, so all three goals are totally preventable. I don't think Aberdeen cut us open, as the home team.

He confirmed: “We have to put it to bed, but we also have to learn from our mistakes. We're usually very good at defending, especially from set pieces. I have to take full responsibility for that. "Today our performance today was decent but we didn't get the result. I'd settle for a poor performance over there and get the result! We're a young squad, very small in numbers that are trying to learn and improve as we go."He added: "It was nothing to do with fitness levels or energy levels. We just made errors. Sometimes players make poor decisions on the ball and we did and got punished for them, our three poor decisions.
