Evelyn Tweed pointed out that audit report is not expected to be published until Friday, November 17 – eleven weeks since the clock's destruction.

Stirling Council were this week accused of “shirking responsibility” over the shocking demolition of the city’s historic Christie Memorial Clock.

Following the incident council leader Chris Kane said he shared residents’ shock at the “distressing” footage on social media and chief executive Carol Beattie commissioned a review into the chain of events. Ms Tweed said this week that the EIRS response “contained nothing of substance” adding that it pointed to an audit report which is not expected to be published until Friday, November 17 – eleven weeks since the clock had been destroyed. She is also seeking a review of the council’s handling of the initial Freedom of Information request.

“The council’s failure to respond satisfactorily to the FOI request, as well as the subsequent Environmental Information Regulations request they deemed more appropriate, is unacceptable. The report put before the full council last month said that given the extent of the damage to stonework, clock faces and internal mechanisms, it remained unclear how much of the existing clock mechanism can be restored – and that a ‘significant proportion’ of the clock tower will require to be remade with new stone.
