The UK has been warned of winds up to 80mph from Storm Darragh , with an amber ' danger to life ' warning issued by the Met Office . Strong northerly or northwesterly winds are predicted for Saturday, December 7, particularly along the west coast and Northern Ireland. Gusts of up to 70-80mph are expected near coastal areas, with inland gusts reaching 60-70mph. The amber warning will be in effect from 3am to 9pm on Saturday.
Additional yellow warnings for wind will cover parts of the UK from Thursday, December 5, until Sunday. The Met Office predicts rain and strong winds through Thursday, followed by a brief period of calm weather on Friday before another spell of wet and windy weather moves in on Friday afternoon
