Street rods roll into York for big weekend at York Expo Center

The street rods returned to York Friday with a roar. An estimated 2,000 to 3,000 classic cars pulled into the York Expo Center . The Street Rod Nationals East spotlights street rods, hot rods and muscle cars.This year, it also marks the 50th anniversary of the National Street Rod Association .Frankie Parillo of Massachusetts drove her 1962 Studebaker to York.'I love it. I always wanted a Studebaker and I finally found one. The convertible top was the bonus,' she said.

Some of the street rods are worth a quarter million dollars. Some owners have put in years of work.'I feel as if my hands have touched every nut and bolt,' said John Tebbutt of Delaware.Tebbutt owns a 1936 Ford Sedan.The street rod event runs through Sunday. It's expected to bring $11 million into the local economy.Spectator gate hoursSaturday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.Sunday: 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
