Strictly Come Dancing star and comedian Chris McCausland discussed the process of adjusting to losing his eyesight for good, following his Retinitis pigmentosa diagnosis aged just 22.
Strictly Come Dancing 's Chris McCausland has opened up about his sight loss and why adjusting to total blindness seemed easier for him than coping with limited vision. The 47-year-old comedian lost his sight at the age of 22 due to Retinitis pigmentosa , a genetic disorder that also affected his mother and grandmother. Speaking on the Talking In The Dark podcast hosted by Evie Roberts, Chris confessed that while he would choose to regain his sight, it would have to be all or nothing.
'That last five years of kind of trying to manage with eyesight, you know, far harder than being blind and then just accepting that this is where you're at. 'Because, for the first time when you're blind, you've got kind of got consistency. You're like, OK, so this is it now, forever, so you kind of, for the first time, come to terms with it.
