Professional dancer Nancy Xu has thrown her support behind her celeb partner Shayne Ward after they faced some viewer backlash following their Strictly Come Dancing debut. The duo, who performed a samba to Stevie Wonder's hit Do I Do on Saturday, 21 September, scored 21 from the judges but were met with critiques, as some fans described Shayne, 39, as coming across "cocky".
Nancy, a Strictly pro since 2019, also hinted at their upcoming performance, promising to "keep going" and "learn things step by step". Teasing their next routine, she added, "Last but not least, hope you all will enjoy and love this journey just like us." Nancy jumped to the defence of Shayne after he faced some criticism for coming across as "cocky" and "overconfident" following their first routine. One fan joked: "If Shayne Ward was made of chocolate he'd lick himself."
