Strictly Come Dancing star Grace Dent is reportedly set to take over as the new face of MasterChef, replacing Gregg Wallace following his departure from the popular BBC cooking show amidst controversy.
Several women came forward with allegations against Wallace, leading Banijay UK, the production company behind MasterChef, to launch an external review into past misconduct allegations. Gregg strongly denies the claims, with his legal team stating that "it is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature".
A source said: "Grace is the perfect choice to replace Gregg on MasterChef," as reported by the Mirror, reports the Irish Mirror. "She's knowledgeable about food and opinionated, plus it's great to have a woman as a judge on the show. It will shake things up and give the series the boost it needs after such an upsetting and uncertain time."
A source said that Grace, a "fan favourite", has charmed a multitude of fans with her "sense of humour" and "no-nonsense" attitude, which has garnered her praise in the "foodie world". They indicated that MasterChef bosses regard her as a "safe pair of hands" who can help guide the show back to "steadier waters" alongside John.
The Mirror has contacted Gregg and Grace's representatives for a statement, while a spokesperson for the BBC has chosen not to comment.
