'It’s a privilege to paint this mural of the Gallagher brothers in the surroundings of their formative years'
A stunning mural of the Oasis brothers has appeared in south Manchester to coincide with Liam Gallagher ’s weekend of shows celebrating the 30th anniversary of the band’s debut album.
The album also features the track Shakermaker, which made a nod to the Sifters record shop in Burnage where the Gallagher’s used to visit as teenagers. In the song, Liam sings: “Mister Sifter sold me songs when I was just sixteen, now he stops at traffic lights but only when they're green.”The shop, on Fog Lane, has now become an even bigger reference point for Oasis fans as a black-and-white mural of Liam and Noel has appeared on the side of its wall.
“It’s a privilege to paint this mural of the Gallagher brothers in the surroundings of their formative years. Thanks to Pete aka Mister Sifter for welcoming the work on the wall of his legendary record store, in which Oasis pay tribute to in ‘Shakermaker’. Tickets for Liam’s two shows at Co-op Live this weekend were snapped up within minutes of them going up for sale. It led the musician to add a further two dates at the venue, scheduled for June 27 and 28, which have also since sold out.
