EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Sugababes talk to the Manchester Evening News about performing at this year's Manchester Pride and what they have in store for the rest of the year
Just moments before the Sugababes take to the stage for what has undoubtedly drawn in the biggest crowd at this year’s Manchester Pride , there’s a sense of glee beaming across the faces of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhhan Donaghy.
For the group, it marks 11 years since they last performed at the festival and it’s one event they’ve been keen to return to. “The last time we performed here was in 2013 when we reformed as MKS,” Keisha explains. “Manchester crowds always show us so much love.” Naturally, with fans turning out in their droves to hear the classics from the band, many will be wondering when they will be able to hear new material from the group. Last year, the band released When The Rain Comes - their first song since the release of The Lost Tapes, their 2011 reunion album which was finally released in 2022. Thankfully, it's become yet another staple hit amongst their already many classics.
In the meantime, the Sugababes still have a wealth of big shows lined up - including a headline slot at Radio 2 in the Park 2024 in Preston on Saturday . “I feel like ever since lockdown we have been celebrating One Touch,” Keisha laughs. “But we always love performing the tracks from that album - especially Overload as it still feels so current.”
