Less than two years after opening, Superdry store in Lincoln shuts down
The Superdry store, a popular addition to Lincoln's Cornhill Quarter, has abruptly closed its doors, less than two years after its grand opening. The store, which opened in October 2021, was part of the fashion brand known for its vintage Americana styling with Japanese inspired graphics.
The store, operated by a franchisee under licence from Superdry, had created 10 new jobs at its inception. The sudden closure has sparked surprise and concern, given the brand's popularity and the recent revitalisation of the Cornhill Quarter. In a statement, the retailer confirmed,"We can confirm that the Superdry store in Lincoln, which is operated by our franchisee under licence from Superdry, is in the process of closing.
The news deals a blow to Lincoln's retail sector, already grappling with the impact of the pandemic and the shift towards online shopping. The closure of the Superdry store leaves a void in the city's retail offering, and it remains to be seen what will fill this gap.
